I've Been There.
- Stress of starting a practice: I get private practice and the stress involved. I started my private practice in 2015 and had one client. I worked for other groups (and was transparent with them) while I built my practice. I started as a wide-eyed baby counselor who did not understand niching or who my ideal client was.
- Dealing with insurance: I had to learn to credential myself with insurance. I know what it is like to not be paid well. I know what it is like to argue with insurance over coverage.
-
- Teaching myself marketing: I had to teach myself how to market and niche marketing.
- Struggled with boundaries in biz: I would answer the phone late and would work all hours. I struggled with saying no.
I want to share what I learned.
- My heart is helping other counselors/helpers: I get how stressful it can be and I want to share what I learned to help prevent compassion fatigue and burnout in helpers.
- Setting boundaries in business: I found that setting various boundaries helps prevent excessive stress.
- Identifying unique self care strategies: My dissertation taught me that self-care is unique to the individual.
